We hired Jamal to help us film a 360 degree video (a very demanding format) in the Sumatran jungle for an immersive show in Chester Zoo (UK). Having not done anything like this before, from the start Jamal was incredibly friendly and helpful – his wealth of knowledge not only helped us acquire visas and permissions with very little stress but also giving us a lot of insight when choosing our locations that we wanted to film.
We didn’t have long to shoot everything in Sumatra (6 days) but the whole time we were there Jamal had everything organised and running smoothly taking loads of pressure off us so we could concentrate on what we were there to film.
We had a very specific location type that we wanted to film at (a wooden canoe ride down a river through the jungle) which let us down at the last minute. Jamal found a replacement (which was even better) within half a day and minimal fuss – a big underlining of his experience.
Jamal has a relaxed and friendly manner and I cannot recommend him highly enough, he made the whole process far easier then it could have been and comparably to other countries we’ve shot in around the world much more enjoyable. I now very much consider him a friend and would work with him again in a heartbeat.

Being a Western crew, with very tight deadlines, he helped us move things forward, and work around the cultural differences presented when working in a Muslim country.
