Prepare all documents needed for each film crew to apply for the film visa.
-
Visit your nearest Indonesian Embassy and explain that you're going to apply for a filming visa. Present all documents you have and they will do the checklist. If they need more documents they will let you know, and if all documents are complete, then they will receive your application and send/submit/forward all documents to a committee called “Foreign Visit Coordination Team” in Jakarta.
-
The Indonesian government (“Foreign Visit Coordination Team”) reviews applications weekly, with decisions made on Thursdays. The review process can take about two to four weeks depending on the queuing or workload plus the completeness of the documentation. If your film visa application is approved, they will notify and send an approval document to the embassy. Generally they also send the notification to me as your local partner/fixer.
-
Along the way the film visa process, The Film Department of Cultural Ministry will process the filming permit document. If you want to do the shooting in a National Park (Like Carstens Pyramid, for example) then they will require us to provide a document called “Conservation Area Entry Permit” released by the Environmental Ministry and/or the Forestry Ministry. We will work on this documentation.

When all is complete and done, we will apply for your filming visa through the immigration online platform. In this stage, we need you to send us a copy of your passport, photograph, your personal statement to obey Indonesia rules/law, and your short biography (including your address & telephone number). This online process will take about two weeks. Film visa approved and we will share it with you.
